New "Elephant and Piggie Like Reading!" book coming soon!

I'm sure most of you who work with elementary students or have young children in your life are aware that Mo Willems has written his final Elephant and Piggie book and he is now overseeing the publication of books in the Elephant and Piggie Like Reading! series. The first two books are The Cookie Fiasco and We Are Growing! and my five year old has been enjoying them. I just saw today that there is a new book in the series coming out in May 2017. It's called The Good For Nothing Button and it's written and illustrated by Charise Mericle Harper. I'll be watching for it!

Introduction and Rationale Who doesn’t love a good laugh? I have selected fifteen humorous picture books aimed at the primary grades for this bibliography. As a teacher on call, I primarily find myself in elementary schools and recent changes to my job situation have seen me teaching in more libraries and primary classrooms. Proud member of the Oregon Trail Generation

As the name of my blog suggests, the library is my happy place. I love being surrounded by books and having the time to browse the shelves and find new resources. I can't see myself ever giving up print books. However, I also do a significant amount of information gathering online and am comfortable searching digital resources for the answers I need. It likely won't surprise you to know that I was born in 1977, the year that Riedling declares as the generational divide in our text, Reference Skills for the School Librarian. I have one foot in the print world and one foot in the digital world. I can remember using card catalogues and microfiches and I also use online databases and have been blogging for over a decade. Transcript of screencast Introduction My final vision project for LIBE 477 is a Destiny Discover Basics screencast that is aimed at students and staff in the Vancouver School Board who are not familiar with this search interface. This 4:28-minute-long video introduces Destiny Discover, shows how to access it, and demonstrates how to search for books. I have created a transcript of the screencast and embedded it in the video description box on YouTube for increased accessibility. After attending a Follett Destiny Discover training session facilitated by  Camille Sullivan , I wanted to solidify my learning by teaching others about what I had been taught. I had colleagues who weren't able to attend the workshop and I wanted to share my tips with them.
